Do you WAG?

Do you shop Walgreens is the question? Yes, Walgreens can often have higher prices than your local big box stores, but each week they do have some steals. To be able to understand all the deals one must first learn the lingo.

Here are some abbreviations I will use:
WAG = Walgreens
RR = Register Rewards, coupons that are printed after you purchase certain items. These are typically Manufacturer's Coupons that can be used on your next purchase. They are for $ amounts off, good on any item.
MQ = Manufacturer's Coupon
YMMV = Your mileage may vary (means it may not be at all stores)
GC = Gift Card
B1G1 or BOGO - Buy one get one free
FAR - Free After Rebate

RR Q & A
Q. Can I "roll" my RR, paying for the same deal with the RR from a previous purchase?
A. Typically, no. Do NOT pay for your next set of diapers (or whatever deal) with the Register Rewards coupon that you got from a previous purchase of the same deal, the Catalina machine will NOT spit out another RR. You CAN use the RR to purchase a different RR deal though, as long as it's not part of the same deal.

Q. Can I get more than 1 RR per transaction?
A. Yes, but you cannot get more than 1 RR from the same item per transaction. i.e. If your transaction consists of toothpaste, toothpaste, toothpaste, you will only get 1 RR, consider separate transactions to get multiple RR. If your transaction consists of toothpaste, razor, shampoo and each of these are giving RR, you will get RR for each item.

Q. Can I use the RR to pay for a gift card?
A. Typically the wording of the RR prohibits this but the register will allow it. Most cashiers will NOT take it, YMMV.

Q. I was unable to use multiple RRs to pay for my purchase, what gives?
A. The register considers most RRs as manufacturer's coupons and requires you to purchase 1 item for each RR redeemed. If you want to buy a $20 item with four $5 RRs, you will need 3 additional filler items. ALSO, some stores have a limit of one RR redeemed per purchase (or per day).

Q. Can I get cash back with my RR?
A. No, your RRs typically can cover up to the subtotal but not more than that.

This week's (8/30 - 9/5 steals are:
Rembrandt Toothpaste Free after RR, $5 get $5 RR
Carefree Ultra Protection Pantiliners Free after RR, $1.99 Get $2 RR
Men's Zone 6 blade Razor System Free after RR, $3.99 Get $4 RR
Colgate 360 ActiFlex Toothbrush Free after Rr, $2.99 Get $3 RR
Breathe Right Nasal Strips, 10 pack $4.99, Get $4 RR
Reach Dental Care (Total Care Toothbrush, Total Care or Ultra Clean Floss) $2.99, Get $2 RR
Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash 20% off, Get $2 RR
Maybelline Eye Cosmetics Sale, B1G1
Scunci Hair Accessories priced up to $3.99 only $0.99 with in ad coupon
Secret or Old Spice, select varieties only $1.99 with in ad coupon
Kellogg's Cereal or Bars, select varieties B1G1
Coffeemate Creamer 16 oz liquid $1.50

You can use MQ on these items and actually end up making a little money. Also, WAG policy is to allow both MQ and WAG store coupons to be use together on the same item.

This can be very confusing and time consuming at first, but it can really pay off in the end.

Happy WAGing!
